A Letter from Paul

Written by Paul on May 15th, 2003

Paul writes about a recent trip to Pattaya where he spoke to a YWAM school aimed at prostitutes and ex-prositutes about the Father Heart of God:

“My time down in Pattaya was very worthwhile and encouraging. It was good to see the girls eager to grow in the Lord. Of the six girls only one had a good relationship with her father. The rest had terrible times with their father and so teaching on the father heart of God was a timely message for them all. There were many tears shed as they shared their stories. Please continue to be praying for them.

The youngest one there was only 16yrs old. Though she did not get involved in prostitution she was well down the road to becoming one when Tamar Center (a ministry to the prostitutes working in Pattaya) were able to rescue her and bring her to their center.

One of the great surprises for me, while there in Pattaya, was that we were asked to take in another baby. Her mother lived in a very poor slum, had AIDS and worked as a prostitute. She was getting weaker and weaker and simply found she could not look after her baby anymore. She is separated from her “husband” though I doubt that they were married in the first place. He also has AIDS and just came out of jail after serving eight months there.

The baby, Nicharat (Nickname: Nui), is also HIV+, is 14mths old and was left to wander around the slum. After spending time with the mother in the slum I felt that it was going to be the best for Nui for her to come and live with us and have a chance for life. There was no one else living in the slum who was willing to help take care of Nui.

So now, Hope has a playmate. Hope, by the way, has really settled in well and is growing in leaps and bounds. She is such a delight and by simply looking at her you would never know she has AIDS.”
