Christmas 2005

Written by Penny on December 15th, 2005

Paul is focusing on preparations for (DTS) Discipleship Training School which begins in January plus enjoying doing some finishing touches to our house we have been building all on the same property with the children.

Penny has been focusing on how to best pull back & do less since a yearly check-up with the oncologist showed the non-hodgkins lymphoma re-occured in October. She is feeling well though and has put herself on a strict diet in an effort to rid herself of the cancer. We are all very optimistic and she plans to go to have a PET scan in January to find out more information.

Luke & Pennie living in Adelaide are nearing two years of married life, both doing well, although Pennie’s health isn’t always great. Luke works full-time and studies part-time and Pennie is working part-time.

Jaci who deferred from uni for a semester due to ill-health and came home to Thailand to recuperate continues to not be at full strength. Her chronic fatigue is still causing her grief and we are waiting for the Lord’s healing touch for her. She will however return to Adelaide to live and study just part-time which she feels she can manage. She desperately wants to be working toward her degree even if not full-time. She would value your prayers.

Zac is in his final year of school, will graduate in next June and is applying for a scholarship for a program in California called “Joshua Wilderness Institute”. If accepted he will be living in USA for at least the 9 months of this course but this Australian son of ours seems to feel much more connected with Americans & says he will live there. Such is the way when ones children attend an international school in another country.

Caleb is doing so very much better socially than he was, my recurrence of cancer though has set him back and this is showing in his school work; he would prefer to do just about anything else except maths. He is in year 10 this year and is growing faster than most of his friends at present. He enjoys the fact that he is the tallest person in most crowds, and a recent highlight for him was receiving some running shoes that fit him (size 13) from his brother in Oz. Thanks Lukey!

That’s our family in a nut-shell. We had hoped our house might be finished by Christmas but that is not to be, however it should be all ready in about a month, so we are all very excited about having our own home here with the children of Home of the Open Heart.

We are so grateful to God for His goodness & mercy to us.

We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas from the bottom of our hearts!
