Resting

Dear Family & Friends,

We wanted to let you know that we are back in Chiang Rai. In our last update (which we wrote just after seeing the doctor in Oz) we explained that test results showed the tumour had grown a little and we were considering a health retreat, outside Melbourne. We visited that retreat, and while we were quite impressed with their program, we felt it better for now to return to Chaing Rai with the possibly of going to their ’sister’ project which is in Malaysia later in the year. In Malaysia they offer a very similar health program and it is one-third the cost plus for us from here it is one-third the distance to travel. Also we have been away from Chiang Rai such a lot, due to treatment of Caleb’s injuries and my ill-health; we really wanted to just be home! I choose to trust, to praise and not give the enemy more ground than he has already taken!

The doctor we saw at the the health retreat place took blood tests to give advice on my ‘anti-oxidant regime’ and that was most helpful. He also suggested a few other remedies to assist my current health program. The major adjustment was that I stop working full-time and cut back to working half-time! So I have come back here and am attempting to adjust my program/life to working half days! It is actually fun to stop and rest and I am loving it and consequently I do feel better, my pain has lessened in the past couple of weeks and I am thoroughly enjoying especially having Jaci, our daughter, who has deferred her study for now to be home with us & Pennie, (our daughter-in-law) helping along with Luke & Caleb at home too. It is an unexpected blessing and joy for Paul and I to have our grown children assisting in our life and ministry!

Caleb, who begins his senior year of school in 2 weeks, is recovering well too. We went to Bangkok for a specialist appointment a couple of days ago and the doctor has said his feet are about 80% healed. The left one which was injured more severely is taking more time but he is now able to bear more weight on his feet, especially his right one. So he continues with physiotherapy and walking with crutches but he is doing so much better and we are so grateful for your prayers for him also.

Please write and ask if you have any questions or encouragement for us. We love to hear how you are too.

with love,
Penny (for Paul & the family)
