Dear Family & Friends,
It’s been a bit of tough week this past week. Luke and Pennie (at 12 weeks gestation) found out that their little baby died in the womb, so we are sad. Pennie went for a D&C 3 days ago and we would value prayer for them as they now move on and process their disappointment and grief. It was hard on us all.
I leave for Malaysia on Wednesday and will be gone until November 25th. I am ready for this time of retreat and am looking forward to God speaking more to me and trusting He will use this time for further healing in my body. I have continued to try to work less and to stay focused on God’s Word, not dwelling on the symptoms of my illness, so as not to give the enemy more ground than he has already taken but on trusting God at His Word! Just yesterday I was reading again the story about Peter walking on the water when Jesus told him to. I related this to my current situation and recognised again that Peter was fine to walk on the water while he kept his sights on Jesus and what he had told him to do but as soon as Peter looked ‘at the wind’ he began to sink. So I do not want to focus on the symptoms of my illness but instead keep God’s Word in my heart. His Word is life to me, literally!
Caleb’s check-up on his feet this past week showed improvement! The bones have mended well, however he still cannot run. He has in the past month just mastered walking at a normal pace, not a snails pace!! He longs to get back to playing football and other sports, but before he does that he needs to do more specific exercises that will help his left foot especially. Both heel bones have mended well but because the left heel particularly was fractured so badly the muscles and tendons around it are needing more time to compensate (plus there is the metal plate in there too) and he is still having pain in the arch of his foot as he walks, so he will continue to work on the exercises the physio doctor has given him, which will improve this arch pain and stretch his Achilles tendon sufficiently so he can walk down stairs properly. The doctors have said it will be about 18 months from the accident (6 months has passed already) before he will having close to normal mobility.
Thanks for your prayers, we need them to keep coming and I will write again after I return from the health retreat in Malaysia. Jaci still plans to be with me for the final 10 days of the health retreat, so please pray that she will see some improvement in her health too.
We appreciate your love and support of our family so very much,
Penny
